I’ve always been athletic and active – I played competitive volleyball both in college and beyond. To this day, I exercise frequently, follow a healthy diet, and I’m very in tune with my body. When I have a medical issue, I prefer using holistic medicine – I don’t even take Tylenol. But, as a volleyball player, my back, head and neck took a beating. One neurologist I consulted for severe headaches even told me I had “the neck of an 80-year-old” when I was just half that age!
Thus, when my headaches worsened due to stenosis and trigeminal neuralgia (a nerve disorder that causes stabbing pain in my head and the back of my neck), I sought relief from Dr. Robert. I have known him personally for years because we attend the same church; he is of excellent character and I trust him implicitly. Still, I felt some fear and trepidation on my first visit due to an unpleasant acupuncture experience years ago with someone else. The practitioner from my past didn’t explain anything about the process and left me surprised and confused by his unorthodox methods. The lack of information and his questionable techniques literally put me (a happy, mellow person) in a depressive funk. I soon abandoned that acupuncturist and worked on healing myself via other methods.
Thankfully, I had a completely different experience at Acupuncture Associates. Robert not only listens carefully to my needs, but he also takes the time to fully explain what he plans to do and what each treatment will accomplish. He is so skilled and gentle in his technique, I tease that he is like a Chinese man in an American body! My headaches are less frequent now and he’s helped me with pain management for my recently broken foot and torn ligament. I have so much respect for him as a friend and a professional that I have already recommended him to my boss, my assistant pastor, and another member of my Sunday School class.
I worked as an insurance adjustor for twenty-five years and therefore, I’ve handled many medical claims. I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to medical professionals. Rest assured that Robert is first-rate practitioner deserving of his stellar reputation.—J.G.
