The Feng Shui Way: Water Works

Feng Shui is an 8,000 year-old Chinese philosophy about the relationship between humans and their environment. Every item in a space and its placement is thought to either enhance or diminish our well-being. Based on the laws of nature, logic and common sense, we have incorporated feng shui principles into our office.

water in feng shuiAs soon as you enter the front door at Acupuncture Associates, you are greeted by a fountain with flowing water which caresses a bed of river rocks.  This water feature adds serenity and positive energy to our environment. Many people find the sound of running water innately soothing, but there is a deeper reason that you may find a fountain or the sound of rain calming. Within Chinese philosophy, water has specific properties that increase our positive energy, known as Qi. Fountains help diffuse negative ions into the environment which in turn, promotes increased health.  Your Qi can be impacted by your immediate surroundings, so we have designed our office to nourish our clients’ energies and overall well-being from the moment they enter our door.

Because moving water, unlike still water, is seen as cleansing and reviving, it has many positive attributes in Chinese tradition.  Moving water is particularly associated with motherhood and abundance, so it is no wonder that we feel relaxed by the sound of running water! Listening to even the simplest fountain reconnects us to our most peaceful, nurturing, and abundant life experiences. Moreover, the sound of running water revives our present energy and rests our mind, promoting a sense of calm.

If you feel lacking in energy, or if you are craving a sense of serenity, spending time in an space with a fountain or other flowing water element may be the respite you need.
